Wow, how do I even start this? This past week has been nothing short of crazy. Last Monday (06/08), I received an email stating the World Race Gap Year would not be launching in September as planned. As Adventures in Missions phrased it, “because of COVID-19, it’s looking like the world won’t be fully open for travel until 2021”. I was presented with multiple options moving forward. My first option was to stay with the squad I’ve been getting to know since September at AIM’s headquarters in Gainesville, Georgia for a semester of missional training, leadership development and discipleship. The squad would then launch onto the field in January and be there until the end of May, still totaling to nine months away but only five months out of the US. My second option was to switch to a World Race Semesters trip launching in January through June (6 months on the field). The semesters trip would still travel to 3 continents, and those are currently being determined.

After lots of prayer and discussion, I have chosen option two. I will be attending Colorado Christian University in the fall to Major in Biblical Studies, then I will do the World Race Semester trip during what would have been my second semester of college. In total transparency, I was pretty bummed when I found out that I wouldn’t be taking a gap year the way I thought I would. I have been learning a lot in this season about surrendering all expectations and plans that I create for myself, and giving them all to the Lord. Only God knows the plan for my life, so why do I keep trying to control it? Although I didn’t envision myself going to college in the fall like the rest of my peers, God has shown me that His plan trumps mine and I am choosing to believe that what He has in store for me is much better. I have chosen to dedicate my life to Him and glorify Him in everything I do, so who says I can’t do that on a college campus instead? I am super excited to see what the Lord has in store for me this next year, and I just know so much good is going to come out of it! Thanks so much to everyone reading this for your support and always choosing to stay up to date with God’s plan for my life. More information to come.
