Thoughts & Inspiration

Hi all! I know I haven’t posted in a while, but I am back with some pretty exciting news. First of all, I am $2,100 away from being fully funded!! Please consider being a part of the last stretch by donating: wether $5 or $500, each donation means so much to me. Donations can be made though Venmo (@corynzurcher), this blog at the “Donate!” button, sent via check, cash, or even Zelle. Do Good t-shirts and sweatshirts are still for sale, the link to order can be found below in the blog post titled “First Fundraiser is Live: SHIRTS!”. Thank you so so much to those of you who have already donated, and I look forward to your continued support.

As I’m sure you’re all aware, the Corona Virus (or COVID-19) is a new, unusual, life-changing epidemic that we are all experiencing together. As of now, there have been no changes regarding the virus to my trip since it is still five months away. All of the missionaries that were on the field on behalf of the World Race- that means gap year, 11n11, and semester trips- were all sent home to the states. This decision was extremely difficult for AIM to make, and more information can be found on the World Race homepage. As believers, we are called to trust in the Lord with all our hearts, and not to lean on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). Psalms 118:6 says “The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me”? Many people are fearful during this time of uncertainty, but we are called to rejoice! I have no fear of COVID-19 impacting my trip in September, because I know He is in control of all of this. I will continue to fundraise my heart out, because the enemy wants me to put it on hold while this virus blows over. The enemy puts doubts in each of us, saying “what if?” or “did God really say…?”. I encourage you all to take some time (now that we suddenly have so much of it) to dig into the word, read, PRAY, and learn more about what GOD says about these uncertain times and how GOD is in control, not us. I will post some key verses that have been keeping me strong during these times at the bottom of this post for those interested! I also encourage you to stand by me and choose to not fear COVID-19 and consider donating to my trip (if you haven’t done so already). The enemy will not postpone or delay the ability of my friends and family to help make this trip a reality for my Squad mates and I.

And finally, the super duper exciting news… there has been an addition to my trip! My trip was originally suppose to spend the first three months in Eswatini (formerly known as Swaziland), the next three in Ethiopia, and the final three in Cambodia. These are all staying true, however just the girls will spend month three in Jeffreys Bay, South Africa working with Global Leadership Academy teaching classes, helping administration at the school, and being involved in various community outreaches. The men on our route will remain in Eswatini for this final month. This change does not impact the amount of time I will be gone for (9 months) or the cost of my trip ($15,600). I am very excited to see what the Lord has in store for us and what impact He plans for us to make in J-Bay!!

Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to read this. If you have any questions at all, you can contact me personally or comment on this post. Please be praying for my Squad and I during these times of uncertainty, that we all can continue fundraising and launch our trip in September as planned! Have a great rest of your week and remember, stay home!!!
